Totoe Medical Group’s direct primary care provides you an amazing primary care experience. Let’s start from the top. When you sign up, you join an intimate small practice where you are treated with respect. You are given your primary physician's cell number for urgent questions!!! When you need to see your doctor, you won’t need to wait 2 weeks for the next open appointment or an hour in the waiting room.  We offer timely same/next-day appointments!  And on top of that, we are available through (text, email, video calls, phone).  Whether it’s a quick question or you’re just out of town, often the problem can be solved without being seen.  If you want your loved ones involved in your care, they can be!  Need longer visits to go over complex problems? Done!  Are you tired of feeling like you blinked  and your doctor was out of the room??  Not anymore.  When you do need to see the doctor, you won’t be rushed or feel like you’re coming back “so they can bill you again”.  We can get you in and out quick, or have prolonged visits – all depending on your needs.  Your care is tailored to you and your needs.

And to top it off, all your procedures done in office are already included in your membership fee. Labs and imaging are offered at heavily discounted prices or you can use your insurance. But the best part, in our opinion, is having a physician who cares for you like a family member, save money, save time and receive amazing care.

What if I’m healthy and never see the doctor?

That is a great problem to have!!  But shouldn’t your doctor also focus on helping you prevent disease and maintain wellness?  When was the last time you had an in-depth preventative wellness visit?  As we grow, we hope to continue to offer more services including nutrition counseling, personal training, functional medicine, etc.  But in the meantime, don’t let that pesky sinus infection keep you down or your weight loss goal. Whether you’re traveling or you’re home here in Abilene, when you have an acute problem we’re here for you!  And  best part is – no wait times and same-day/next-day visits!  Getting ready to travel internationally?  We can use telemedicine to help solve most medical problems while you’re abroad.  Never again do you have to worry about finding an urgent care or wondering about a provider’s skill level. Think of our membership as a way to help cap your medical expenses.

What if I don’t have health insurance?

No worries, we are glad to welcome you as a member. At Totoe Medical Group we believe all patients deserve amazing primary care even without health insurance.

Does TMG accept health insurance?

Accepted Answer

We do not accept or bill health Insurance. Only payment will be your low monthly membership- not even copays. But you can still use your insurance for labs and imaging we order for you. We forgo insurance payments to save our patients from the arbitrary, intrusive decisions made by insurers.(such as 15min/visit) Furthermore, the direct nature of our model frees us from the typical contractual agreements that prevent physicians in traditional practice from offering wholesale prices on laboratory tests and imaging.

If I have Medicare, Can I still join Totoe Medical Group?

​Yes, you can join and we have many of such members who have been with us for many years. You only need to sign a one-time waiver declaring that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations ordered by our office.

As a patient of TOTOE MEDICAL GROUP, will I still need health insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There are certain types of care we cannot provide for you, such as surgeries and hospital stays, and you would still need insurance to cover these emergency situations. We suggest you opt for a lower cost, higher deductible plan that would still offer you coverage, but would lower your monthly premium, and pair this with a health savings account to save for those catastrophic events, that should be few and far between. If you are young and healthy, you may also want to opt for a Health Share plan. With Direct Primary Care, you would not need to worry about meeting a deductible, since you will not need it for any of the care we provide for you, and this could save you hundreds to thousands per year on health costs.

What happens if I need to go to the hospital or see a specialist?”

In providing superb care with unprecedented sorts of access, we seek to prevent or reduce hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where those types of care are required, we will work with your hospitalist during your hospital stay as well as work closely with any specialist when such care is needed. In some cases, depending on the level of care and the expertise required, we may rely on those specialized caregivers to manage your treatment. We do encourage you to carry insurance for these kinds of needs, as we are not considered an insurance plan.

Can I reach the doctor after hours?

Of course!!!  This clinic was created so you can call your doctor when you need them in an urgent situation.  Twist your ankle playing basketball and don’t know what to do? Now you know who to call!  Cut your finger while cooking dinner?  Text a pic and we’ll discuss what we need to do.  Who hasn’t come down to their last pill and realized they were out of refills?  There are countless examples of after-hours needs. That’s the beauty of TOTOE MEDICAL GROUP’S DIRECT PRIMARY CARE and having a real relationship with your doctor!

What services do you NOT do?

We do not treat new chronic pain patients or carry narcotics in our office.

Can I cancel my membership at any time?

Accepted Answer

Of course, you can cancel any time before your next monthly bill. You can rejoin after cancellation but do remember that re enrollment carries a fee of $250 and it is subject to availability and approval.
